Inspection preparation

CQC inspection preparation

Prepare by understanding your service and the evidence of care delivered, not by treating an inspection as a paperwork exercise.

Begin with current official guidance

CQC's assessment framework and evidence guidance explain how it considers quality and performance. Check the current guidance for your service before choosing an internal review structure; do not rely on an old inspection checklist alone.

Review actions before assembling evidence

Look at unresolved audit findings, recurring concerns and improvement plans. For example, if an earlier review identified a records gap, check whether the action was completed and whether subsequent records show an improvement.

Evidence includes people's experience

CQC gathers evidence in different ways, including conversations and observations. Organised records can help explain the service, but staff understanding and people's lived experience cannot be replaced by a software dashboard.

Use the right product tools

MyCareCompliance brings audits, evidence and action plans together; its Complete plan includes mock inspection tools. MyCarePolicies can support version and acknowledgement evidence. Neither product guarantees an assessment result.

Questions about inspection preparation

Do I need the highest plan for core audits?

Core audits, action plans and evidence are listed in Essential. Mock inspection tools are listed in Complete. Compare the current plan features with the process you need.

Can software replace staff preparation?

No. Staff should understand the care they deliver, relevant procedures and how concerns are raised. Software provides supporting records and oversight.
